Before God sent Peter to speak to Cornelius, God was already working in his heart. Just as God used Cornelius to open the door to the Gentile world, He is continuing to open doors for the gospel today in new ways and unexpected places.

Concept:

Through the refugee crisis in Europe, God is providing opportunities to help new believers receive further training and continue to make disciples who will make disciples.

Importance:

The refugee crisis has taught us to love others without conditions.

It has taught us to recognize our own prejudices and natural tendencies to discriminate against those who seem different from us.

Today God is calling the church to go outside of our comfort zones to reach people in need.

Action:

The team will be introduced to the Cornelius Project, which seeks to promote training and discipleship among refugee believers.

The team will visit the ancient city of Corinth along with refugees who are integrating in Athens.

They will have the opportunity to study the Bible together and experience and discuss some Biblical history.

George Tolias

Born and raised in a Christian family in Greece, George studied Electrical Engineering and taught afterwards as a professor at the same university for three years. In the course of those three years, God’s calling in his life became more obvious leading him to start his studies at the Greek Bible College.

During his theological studies, he worked as an intern at the First Evangelical Church of Athens. He met his wife, Phaedra, at the Greek Bible College and together they continued their studies at Westminster Theological Seminary (MA, Theological Studies). They have two children, Olivia (4 years old) and Nicholas (3 years old). George is now the Pastor of the Glyfada church, which was the first church plant of the Polis network. He is also completing his second Master’s degree in Eastern Orthodox religion.
